  • 3D Tomosynthesis

3D tomosynthesis was approved by the FDA in February 2011. It is a revolutionary technology that combines the advantages of digital mammography with a 3D image of the breasts. 3D tomosynthesis creates multiple images or "slices" of the breast tissue which allows our radiologists to see greater detail and helps reduce the impact of overlapping breast tissue. The process is performed at the same time as a normal mammogram, with no noticeable differences in the experience or exam time for the patient.

  • Breast Imaging & Mammography

Breast cancer kills 40,000 women each year in the United States. Early detection is the key to fighting it successfully. Because screening mammography is so important in identifying breast cancer at the earliest, most treatable stages – it is vital that women choose a breast imaging center with the highest level of clinical expertise and access to advanced screening and diagnostic technologies. Mammograms are the best technology currently available to detect breast cancer in its earliest stages, most treatable stages. Atlantic Medical Imaging is staffed with board certified and fellowship-trained radiologists equipped with state-of-the-art breast imaging technology. We are committed to accuracy and quick turnaround so that you and your care provider can make informed decisions for the future.

  • Cardiac Imaging Center of Excellence

Atlantic Medical Imaging has one of New Jersey’s most advanced cardiovascular imaging programs, providing comprehensive multimodality imaging for the full range of cardiovascular issues. We were the first imaging center in South Jersey to introduce Coronary CT Angiography, the least-invasive CT exam for detecting coronary artery disease. We began offering this service in 2001, and in the last 15+ years we have performed more than 10,000 examinations and set the standard of excellence for coronary CTA.

  • Coronary CTA

Coronary CT Angiography (CTA) is the least-invasive CT exam currently available for detecting coronary artery disease. In 2001, Atlantic Medical Imaging was the first imaging center in South Jersey to offer Coronary CTA. This procedure is so advanced that only a handful of imaging centers in the world have the technology and skilled personnel qualified to perform it. With this test, we can detect heart disease in its earliest stages, catching signs that would be invisible in other exams such as an EKG or stress test.

  • CT Scan

Computerized Tomography, often referred to as CT scan or CAT scan, is a standard in imaging technology. This test can create images of the body’s inner structures, including bones, muscle and organs. The procedure only takes a few minutes and uses minimal amounts of radiation. Atlantic Medical Imaging is the first radiology practice in the area to offer low dose CT scanning at all of our CT scan outpatient facilities. This state-of-the-art technology reduces radiation exposure by 50 to 75% compared to traditional CT scanning without losing any image quality.

  • DEXA Scan

Many people who have osteoporosis are not diagnosed until they suffer an injury. Not many people think about the strength of their bones and trust that everything is working as it should. Unfortunately, bones can weaken over time, and some people (mostly women) will develop osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a condition where small holes appear in the bones, making them more brittle and susceptible to injuries. The Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) Scan in a painless, noninvasive imaging test used to measure bone mineral density. It Is currently the best means we have of diagnosing osteoporosis and osteopenia.

  • General Radiology & Fluoroscopy

You can think of fluoroscopy as an x-ray “movie.” In this imaging procedure, an x-ray is continually passing through the body and transmitting an image to a nearby monitor. This allows the radiologist to observe the movement of the body in great detail. Fluoroscopy is primarily used to aid in the diagnosis of diseases and guide surgeons during minimally invasive interventional radiology procedures.

  • Low Dose CT Lung Screening

The thought of exposing yourself to radiation when your doctor is already concerned that you may have lung cancer can add more anxiety to an already stressful situation. CT scans do not use much radiation and should be safe, but less is always better. This is why the imaging practices at Atlantic Medical Imaging are equipped with low dose CT scanning technology. Lung cancer is responsible for 1 out of every 3 cancer deaths and is the second most frequently diagnosed cancer in men and women. While heavy smokers are at the greatest risk for the disease, 60% of lung cancer patients are individuals who never smoked or who quit decades ago. Only 16% of lung cancers are diagnosed at their earliest, most curable stages. If caught early, patients can increase their treatment options while improving their outcomes and survival rate.

  • MRI

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is one of the most powerful imaging tools in modern medicine. Unlike many imaging devices, the MRI uses magnets instead of radiation to create images. MRIs are also painless and noninvasive, making them one of the most effective and efficient imaging tests currently available.

  • Nuclear Medicine

In nuclear medicine, a special dye is inserted into the body through an IV injection, or by swallowing a pill or liquid, depending on whatever will help it reach the designated area faster. This dye creates a highlight on imaging scans like X-ray and CT scanning, making it easier for the radiologist to distinguish details in the images. With nuclear medicine, doctors can examine damage to bones and tissue from infections, monitor the spread of cancer, assess blood flow in the cardiovascular system, and more.

  • PET/CT Scanning

Positron emission tomography (PET) and computed tomography (CT) are two imaging techniques that serve different functions. PET is a nuclear imaging procedure used to detect changes in metabolism, cell function, and chemical reactions in the body, among other things. CT scanning is a more mainstream imaging test that can be used in many contexts. Atlantic Medical Imaging is equipped with state-of-the-art PET/CT scanning technology. We perform a wide variety of imaging procedures and will address any questions or concerns you have about the test.

  • Pediatric Imaging

Imaging services are primarily created with an adult body in mind, but many radiologists are also trained in pediatric imaging. At Atlantic Medical Imaging, we have an experienced team of radiologists who understand the unique needs of children. Our imaging centers in New Jersey are prepared to provide your child with the service he or she needs. We strive to create a family-friendly atmosphere at all of our centers. Our staff is used to working with children and will work to make sure they have a positive experience. Many parents want to stay with their children during the exam, and we encourage this whenever possible.

  • Ultrasound

Ultrasound imaging is a procedure that uses soundwaves to create live-feed images of internal organs. No radiation is used in ultrasound imaging, which is why it is the test used to assess the health of fetuses. Though it is primarily known for its role in maternal medicine, ultrasound has many applications outside of this. It is often used to examine the heart and blood vessels, liver, gallbladder, kidneys, and pancreas, among other things. It is also often used in interventional procedures such as ultrasound-guided biopsies.
